Volunteers are valued members of the South Lane Wheels team. Your skills can make a big difference to our agency plus you have an opportunity to learn new skills. The tasks are varied, the work environment is pleasant and you would be a part of an energetic, highly creative team.

Volunteer Coordinator
This part-time position will assist in the development of a multifaceted volunteer program: recruiting, placing, orienting, sustaining and recognizing volunteers.
The Volunteer Coordinator would also compile statistics, write thank you letters and perform light clerical duties.
A volunteer coordinator will be willing and able to work with others on projects, be friendly and personable, and be somewhat familiar with basic database and word-processing programs.
Skills you will use at South Lane Wheels are: general office/administrative, computer/internet and public relations/outreach.
Volunteer Fundraising Team Member
The Volunteer Fundraising Team Member will provide support for and work with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors Fundraising Team to generate new and maintain existing fundraising efforts for South Lane Wheels. The Volunteer Fundraising Team Member must be able to honor confidentiality.
The Volunteer Fundraising Team Member will be willing and able to work with others on projects, be friendly and personable, and be familiar with basic database and word-processing programs.
We are looking for volunteers with the following skills: fundraising experience and public relations/outreach. Your skills can make a big difference to our agency plus you have an opportunity to brush up on your office skills or learn new skills.
Volunteer Community Relations Representative
The Volunteer Community Relations Representative will provide support for and work with the Executive Director to generate publicity releases for the newspapers, radio and television. Duties may include preparation of the news releases, preparation of quarterly newsletters and presentations to local groups. The Community Relations Representative must be able to honor confidentiality.
The Community Relations Representative will be willing and able to work with others on projects, be friendly and personable, and be familiar with basic database and word-processing programs.
The volunteer may have the following skills: general office/administrative, computer/internet, and public relations/outreach.
Volunteer Assistant Event Organizer/Coordinator
The Assistant Event Organizer/Coordinator will work on one (or more) major event a year that would serve the dual purpose of raising public awareness of the agency and raising funds for operating expenses.
An Assistant Event Organizer is an enthusiastic, creative and pro-active person with some knowledge of organizing events. Back-up volunteers will be available from within our existing volunteer pool.
We are looking for volunteers with any of the following skills: fundraising, sales/marketing, program management, special events, and public relations/outreach.
South Lane Wheels Volunteer Driver
South Lane Wheels seeks volunteers to drive our vans as they take clients to run errands, go to the doctor’s office, grocery shopping, exercise classes and other essential services. Drivers also drive groups on mini-trips to the coast, into Eugene or other locations for social activities.
Volunteers receive training from South Lane Wheels. Drivers must be able to pass a driving and criminal background check and pass a drug test. Current CPR and First Aid certifications are required, provided through South Lane Wheels. We can accommodate your daytime schedule.
Skills required: current drivers license with 2 years experience in the last 5 years driving large vehicles, no accidents or tickets in the last 3 years, current CPR and First Aid certifications, driving and map reading. You should be cheerful and helpful, with a desire to share your smile and good will.
Volunteer Office Angel (Assistant)
The Volunteer Office Assistant provides support for a variety of clerical duties such as file maintenance, copying, collating, mass mailings, data entry, and special projects for our office. You can be using, and learning, computer programs such as Microsoft Office applications. Expand your office expertise while helping South Lane Wheels assist the community with their transportation needs.
The Volunteer Office Assistant must be able to honor confidentiality.
Vantastic Van Washer
This is a great opportunity for those who like quick results for a job well done. The volunteer(s) would be responsible for washing and cleaning the interior and exterior of small and large (14 passenger) vans. We provide the hoses, buckets, rags and vacuum and you provide the enthusiasm and labor. This could be a weekly, monthly or one time project.
Our volunteers should be detail-oriented, energetic individuals who work well on their own once given directions. No training is necessary for this position. The volunteer should be comfortable using a small ladder for reaching the roof of the van and wear work clothes, gloves and sturdy boots.
Volunteer Vehicle Maintenance Aide
Help maintain and service our vans and busses. This position is suitable for the “home mechanic” through an experienced vehicle maintenance professional. It involves greasing and cleaning, systems checks and other related small tasks. Volunteers providing major maintenance and/or repairs must be able to demonstrate their knowledge of the trade and be able to work with minimal supervision.
Skills needed are: ability to handle tools and power tools, and experience with vehicle repair and/or maintenance.
Volunteer Grounds Maintenance (Landscaper)
Nature/outdoors-loving person wanted for weeding, raking, pruning, and planting for our landscaping. You will also maintain the parking lot and clean sidewalks. Come join in, have fun. It is physical work, but not too strenuous. Wear work clothes, gloves and sturdy boots. Training is on-the-job.

Executive Director
Position Summary
The Executive Director will serve as the chief administrator of South Lane Wheels (SLW) responsible for the management and direction of the organization. The Executive Director will report to a 9 member Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing and implementation of all services of SLW. The Executive Director must effectively administer SLW within the laws of the State of Oregon and the policies adopted by the Board of Directors. This individual is held accountable for the financial integrity of the SLW.

On-Call Back-Up Driver
South Lane Wheels has an opening for an on call back up driver. This position is less than 20 hours a week. Qualified applicants will have a CDL and 2 years commercial driving experience. There will be no guaranteed hours set. CDL is required for this position. Driving hours would be between 6 AM-7 PM Monday through Friday. At least one weekend on call will be required each month. Call to report time is a maximum of 30 minutes. We are also looking for applicants for future part time driving positions to help with expanded service hours and operations.
The driver is the heart and soul of the transportation program: helping elders and people with disabilities live independent, quality lives by providing them access to necessary community services. The driver provides transportation in agency vehicles to individuals who have difficulty accessing regular public transportation and members of the general public. This is a part-time back up position filling in for staff drivers who are sick or on vacation.

Compensation is $9.50 an hour moving to $10 an hour after the first 30 days of actual drive time.
